Magnus Fuglø – seyðabóndi í Suðurgrønlandi

Jacob Fuglø

Magnus Fuglø, who was born in Viðareiði on July 23rd, 1903, had an unusual passion for sheep farming. However, his family did not own land, so like most young men of his time, he turned to fishing instead.

In 1951, he discovered an opportunity to become a sheep farmer in Greenland.

Magnus was an impulsive man, and in 1952, at the age of 49, he ventured to Greenland. His wife, Saloma, and their only son, Jacob, arrived in Greenland in 1953, and Magnus settled in Tasiilaq to pursue his career as a sheep farmer.

In the book, his son, Jacob Fuglø, and his daughter-in-law, Marie, recount the events of their 20 years in Southern Greenland during which they, through unwavering perseverance, successfully established a thriving sheep-farming business.
