About the author Martin Næs

was born in 1953 in Vágur. He is a librarian by profession and was the head of the National Library from 1985 to 2003. He is now the head of the Department of Culture in the Ministry of Culture. He has served as a member of the boards for the University of the Faroe Islands, the Society for Faroese Authors, the Nordic House in the Faroes and Nordbok, the Nordic Literature and Library Committee.
