Jarðnáðir (Land of Love and Ruins) is a book about love and love’s grace on earth.

Here, love is considered in many forms: the love between spouses, between siblings, between children and parents and next-of-kin. The love of one’s country and nature. The love of differing cultures. Of literature and art.

This is a journey around love and love’s conditions, nowadays and in times past, abroad and at home. Based on own life experiences, the author paints a picture of contemporary Icelandic society from the perspective of love, amplified with links to philosophy, archaeology, and other cultures, not least women’s studies.
