Framtíðin er okkara
Ideologically, Høgni Reistrup is a liberal republican, and he is a new voice in the political arena.
Høgni analyses our political system, highlights the features that limit our competences, and outlines the road we ought to take towards becoming a sovereign country.
FRAMTÍÐIN ER OKKARA (The future is ours) is divided into five chapters, which, among other things, revolve around the construction of an open and tolerant society that thrives on its own resources, that does not accept unnecessary financial aid from abroad, and that provides a broader access to its wealth. Furthermore, the book assesses population growth, education opportunities, and not least trade.
FRAMTÍÐIN ER OKKARA is about the importance of controlling our own affairs and the danger of surrendering our future for others to administer. That is a task for us to fulfil, and it is a task that we can fulfil with the resources and competencies we possess on the islands.
This book is a very well substantiated contribution to the political discourse of the Faroe Islands.
