Ævisøga - Dagbók - Brøv
Tomas Espedal’s comments on the books:
BIOGRAPHY: The biography is the story of oneself, written by another. I wanted to write about another, but he was me. The biography is a recognisable genre. It begins on a street, in a house. Starts with childhood, and then everything else is drawn into the story subsequently.
DIARY: I carried on with the diary, which is written to oneself! It is not intended for any reader. It is private. It was a thrilling thought to write a real diary, which later was to be revealed for others to read.
LETTERS: Then I wrote the letter, which was directly aimed at another, only one. I had written to myself in the diary, and then “you” emerged. The letter is a you-book, and this book is a plea. It could just as well have read “Come back to me.” “I miss you. Come back soon.”
