Rasmus Rasmussen
1871-1962 Rasmussen, also known as Regin í Líð, was born in Miðvágur. In Denmark, he studied at two folk high-schools (Vallekilde and Askov) from 1892 to 1898 and received a degree in teaching in 1899.
In 1899 he founded the Faroese Folk High School with Símum av Skarði, where he taught for 48 years, retiring in 1947.
In 1907, he and Anton Degn founded The Faroese Literature Society, which published Faroese books for a few years.
His Bábelstornið (The Tower of Babel) was the first novel published in Faroese. It was released in 1909.
