Our short and vibrant tale of Snæbjørn, the farmhand who grew up in Hvalba, who made love to the young housemaid, who rebuked the authorities and refused to go up a cliff to fetch young pigeons, is one that most of us are familiar with. The authorities sought revenge against Snæbjørn and later sentenced him. But Snæbjørn fought for his rights, hit the bailiff so hard after being sentenced to Bremarhólm that the bailiff died and Snæbjørn had to flee. He lived as an outlaw a long time and managed to do so because he was so remarkably brave and skillful. One night a ship came into Hvalba and when it had set sail, Snæbjørn was never again to be seen.
