These are contemporary stories about women of different ages; from little girls to elderly ladies. Most of the women find themselves in a marginalised situation in relation to their everyday lives and have arrived at a crossroad.
The question facing them now is whether they will be able to change their situation, or whether they will have to come to terms with what is. A melancholic mood exudes from many of the stories, yet at the same time, there is a glimpse of hope and prospects of change – possibly in a different setting than the womanly life, the women had imagined for themselves. The stories portray human relationships; between parents and children, older and younger generations, men and women, and friends. All of them deal with contemporary subjects, which the reader can relate to.
