Reyn, kæra Reyn
Reyn, kæra Reyn (Reyn, dear Reyn) is structured like a walking tour with Jørleif of the area Reyn in Old Torshavn based on the maps of Johan Poulsen – also called Blikkinsláarin (the plumber). Jørleif was known for many things, but he was particularly well known as a great storyteller and entertainer. He greatly valued history and heritage and never tired of telling his Torshavn tales to young and old, foreigners and locals alike. His strength as a storyteller lay in his ability to include his audience in the storytelling. He would listen intently, share his stories, and was always ready to receive from the audience and give back, making each storytelling specific to a certain time and place, perhaps even personal, and always an unforgettable experience.
Jørleif has passed away, but the book Reyn, kæra Reyn with its magnificent images and words from Jørleif will still awaken readers’ curiosity and senses, making them feel like Jørleif's audience and want to pass on his stories – or perhaps their own– to others. In doing so, the story never dies.
Maps and overviews with annotations that correspond with the mentioned places in the walking tour encourage the reader to explore Reyn, book in hand, to learn more about the key topics and places of Jørleif’s stories.
