Dreymaólag

Gyrðir Elíasson

Gyrðir Elíasson (1961) has published a long line of poetry collections, short story collections, and novels in Icelandic. His style is lyrical and packed with imagery. His most famous work is without a doubt the short story collection Millum trøini (Between the Trees) from 2009, for which he received the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2011.

His poems and stories are distinct and depict dreams and reality, the fantastic and the trivial in a highly unique manner. At the same time, his descriptions often carry a sense of magic when he writes about the connection between thought and nature.

Since 1983, Gyrðir Elíasson has published 20 poetry collections, 4 collections of short prose, 7 novels, 11 short story collections and 1 essay collection.

The poetry collection Dreymaólag  (Disorganized dreaming) was first published in Reykjavík in 2020.

Martin Næs has translated the collection into Faroese, and Zacharias Heinesen has made the cover for the Faroese edition.
