Catechism as a book is aware of our own time. The present day sets other conditions to teaching Christianity as a subject in school than what was the case in the past, when the faith in authority was dominant and it was not common to question Christianity.

Catechism is about the fundamental questions of the Christian faith and the questions which are raised about it in our present time. It approaches everyone who has had Christianity as a part of their cultural baggage and also those who in some way have become curious about Christianity.

In addition to the texts there is art by contemporary artists in every segment of the book. Accompanying the artwork are short interpretative statements and Bible quotes which connect the art to the texts. Each chapter and each segment can be read individually or as a part of a whole and thus the book can easily be used as a handbook.

The book is well suited as teaching material from eigth grade and upwards. It is also suitable for reading groups and as additional material for Bible lessons.
