Corpus delicti
CORPUS DELICTI refers to the principle that evidence must prove that a crime has been committed in order for someone to be convicted of that crime.
Mia Holl lives her life in a kingdom ruled per the Method (reminiscent of the society in 1984 by Orwell), where great health and maintaining one's health is a citizen’s foremost duty. Everyone must comply by sending the authorities health and sleep data every month, in addition to partaking in mandatory physical exercises.
Mia is young, beautiful, and respected as a scientist, and, outwardly, she seems to conform to the rules of her society, but her intellect resists the system.
She remains convinced that her brother was wrongfully convicted for a serious crime that he did not commit, and she decides to rebel against the powers in her society.
The book portrays a fictional contemporary dystopian society in which ideals of health and perfection have reached an extreme and have taken over. A captivating thought experiment.
