Sagnaslóðir fram við strendur
This book journeys from the land of the Sami in the east to the shores of the Inuits in the west and the accounts show the way.
The result of this journey are stories from five cultures: The Sami, the Northern Norwegian, the Faroese, the Icelandic and the Greenlandic.
The Storytrails contain stories which have lived for a long time - and still live - on rocky shores encompassing the whole North Atlantic. In the places where the land and sea meet each other is where the shorepeople have their homes - people who for centuries have battled with the sea. Rare creatures have sprung from their imagination: The marmennil, the mermaid, the seal woman and many, many others. Artists from these five cultues have provided the pictures for the stories.
In the places where old texts and new images meet a beautiful world is created. This is a book which carries an ancient as well as a young awareness of the power of storytelling - a power that breaks all boundaries.
