Gandakendu Føroyar (paperbook)

Oddfríður M. Rasmussen, Ole Banke
Ole Banke is a nature photographer, who has visited the Faroes nine times between 2002-2016. The last three visits were in winter.

He is hooked on the Faroes, Banke confesses. “This micro country with its impressive mountains, cascading streams, deep fjords and valleys, everything framed by an endless sea with this ever-changing light, both gives me an adrenaline kick and peace of mind.”

Ole Banke and Oddfríður M. Rasmussen published another photo book, The Faroese Light, in 2001.

Enchanted Faroes is composed with the same idea that framed that work: Interrupting Banke's photographs, Rasmussen interprets one image here and comments another one there in verse.

About the author Ole Banke

Banke is a self – taught photographer who finds his motives in nature and he is partial to landscapes, especially Nordic landscapes. He has and still does travel extensively in the Nordic countries, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and not least the Faroe Islands, where he has been more times than he can count.

In 2001, he published the book Tað føroyska ljósið (The Faroese light) with his own photographs and texts by Oddfríður Marni Rasmussen. Twenty years ago, he, together with others, founded NaturFotografer i Danmark, an association of nature photographers in Denmark. Between 1995 and 2009, Banke was the Danish editor of the distinguished Swedish journal Camera Natura and has served in the same capacity at the popular Norwegian journal Natur & Foto since 2010.
