was born in Tórshavn in 1969 and was raised in Sandur. He studied for two years at Forfatterskolen, a school for writers in Copenhagen. He writes poetry and short stories. Together with Arnbjørn Ó. Dalsgarð, he has edited the literary magazine Vencil since 2006.

Banke is a self – taught photographer who finds his motives in nature and he is partial to landscapes, especially Nordic landscapes. He has and still does travel extensively in the Nordic countries, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and not least the Faroe Islands, where he has been more times than he can count.

In 2001, he published the book Tað føroyska ljósið (The Faroese light) with his own photographs and texts by Oddfríður Marni Rasmussen. Twenty years ago, he, together with others, founded NaturFotografer i Danmark, an association of nature photographers in Denmark. Between 1995 and 2009, Banke was the Danish editor of the distinguished Swedish journal Camera Natura and has served in the same capacity at the popular Norwegian journal Natur & Foto since 2010.
