This book is an attempt at introducing younger generations to the person and personality of Jóannes Patursson.

Emphasis is placed on the political aspect of Jóannes, the farmer’s life – the opening of a political biography. But there were many other aspects to his life, which have formed his legacy in Faroese history.

With any luck, this book will provide a closer look at the man, who, perhaps more than any other, shaped and exemplified all those years, which constitute the long life he was granted.

No societal matter that occurred in the Faroe Islands during his time on earth – which was just short of a century – is self-evident without him.
